My Car: 2007 Prius Package: Base Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Hello Everyone, I am new here and just picked up a 2007 Prius. Paid a premium for it ,but the savings will be great over the long haul. Went from 15 ,18 mpgs to average of 48 to 50 on my commute. About 80 miles a day round trip just door to door. Makes me happy. How are these cars in the New York City area winters? I need to travel in some pretty nasty weather at times. E |

I had no issues driving my Prius this past winter (my commute is from LI to Westchester, over the Whitestone Bridge). The MPGs do take a hit though in cold weather because it's harder to keep the engine and battery warmed up. If this coming winter is anything like the last one, we should have no problems. |

My intentions were to keep it for 2 years and buy a 2010. The saleswoman at the dealer seemed to think that the 2010,s were going to be better than the 09's for some reason. This 07 is the base Prius I assumed. She mentioned something about no packages in 07? I wasn't listening,I just wanted the car after driving it. Of all the cars I looked at and researched the Prius was the only car to consistently get 45 mpg's or better all the time. Also being 6 foot 1 and 225 lbs I can actually stretch a bit and wear a hat without problems. I like the room. The car is deceiving from the outside. E | |

In my case at about 22,000 miles their performance in the snow were pathetic compared to what they were early in the season. |
