Looking to buy a 2010 Prius IV with leather and nav - need a little help
Is the solar roof worth the extra money? - I live in Dallas, TX area
How is the Ride on long trips 700mi and more ?
Does the Bluetooth work well?
Should I blow the extra money and go for the V and get the tech pack?

Any input will be appreciated
Thanks

I have a V with ATP and I like it real well, I would buy the same thing if I had it to do over again. But I have never owned a IV with a sun roof so I can't so a comparison.

It's a lot better than my '05 Prius was on long drives, 5 or 6 hundred miles in that car was a pretty tough because of the poor driving position. This car seems much better, seat is more comfortable and has more adjustments. I'm just average size but it fits me pretty well and I have put in a couple of 700 mile days with it.

Use the search function and do a search for bluetooth, you will get a lot of good information that will answer your questions. Some devices seem to work better than others.

If you're sure you want Nav, the "solar roof" is the sunroof/moonroof and solar fan for $1800 more. The sunroof is a nice sunroof. I got one, because I wanted one and I like it a lot. You need to determine the value for you.
The solar fan works like a regular fan in a hot room. I've felt it turn on on 80 degree days in Louisville, and certainly on 90+ degree days. I agree with the people way down South, who say that it makes the car just a few degrees hotter than outside, instead of super hot.
Another little-mentioned part of the solar roof package is remote A/C. If you routinely are close to your car, you could start it 2 minutes before you get in. A/C runs on the electric battery. That helps with heat also.

The Bluetooth works well with my iPhone 3GS, but it does seem to vary by model. As tumbleweed says, searching for yours is a good idea.
I haven't driven a 700 mile trip yet - nothing I have is that far. I'm 6'1" and weigh 200 lbs, and have no problems in the driver's seat for 3 hours at a time.

There are a lot of people with ATP here. I think they lean more towards technology buff types. If you're on a fixed income in Dallas, I'm not sure how much it would help you. Honestly, on a true fixed income I'd look for a package IV without Nav, or even a package III.
The backup camera is useful, but it's not absolutely necessary. Then there are good standalone Nav units for under $500.
There is a difference between no leather and leather, I will admit. I think the cloth seats are fine and didn't want to pay $2500 mostly for leather. Others strongly disagree. Again, it's your preference, but those are my thoughts.

Thanks for your input, every opinion helps. Also looked at a three and leather adding a mirror with home link and a ear piece for bluetooth or a parrot stand alone unit. leaning for the IV.

We have a IV with no NAV - the bluetooth is terrific with our phones - much better than the 'clip on the visor' kind that we had before. The leather seats are very comfortable for us (we've made 2 225 mile trips). Up here in Minnesota, the seat warmers are an essential (I don't think the III comes with them). Also love the Homelink opener. Can't speak to the solar roof. We love our new Prius!

I have a IV with Nav and I love it. The best car I've ever owned; the most fun to drive.

I have a Motorola Razr phone and it works perfectly with this car. The phone downloaded my entire address book into the car's address book. I can make phone calls using voice commands and my wife says she can hear me just fine when I am talking hands-free.

I wanted to get the sunroof but I live in Florida and I've heard people say that, since its only a fan that's running, it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference. Yeah, you can start the A/C a couple of minutes before you get into the car, but how much does a car cool down in two minutes. I opted to save the $1,800 dollars and I have not been a bit sorry. Still, it's a personal decision.

Whatever you decide, you'll love your new Prius.
