Please take a look at http://eevc.info/ for details on an event
right in Burlington County [about halfway between Trenton and Philly,
tpk exit 5]. The people organizing it, even at this late date only
a week and change out from the event, are still looking for more
participants. Their publicity to date hasn't been the best, but
here's your chance to turn this Tour de Sol-inspired event into
something really memorable!
.
Heck, I'm truckin' all the way down from Beantown to do it, and
will be doin' the usual cluedumping and flyer-distribution thing at
the environment show the next day.
.
At this point your best option for getting signed up is to call
Perry directly, and he'll be glad to hear from you.
.

It figures. We have plans for that weekend.

Of course if that weekend is anything like last weekend, the "Tour to the Shore" will show exactly how well the Prius does in stop & go traffic. I wouldn't have chosen Summer to do something like that.

Oliver H. Perry (the contact) was my high school Physics teacher. Back then the senior project was building windmills on the school roof. The year after I graduated the project was electric cars. Will have to check this out.

Speaking of stop & go traffic, a few friday nights ago I was stuck in downtown NYC trying to get into the Holland Tunnel. It was bumper to bumper (in what seemed like forever but not as long as Continental parked my 767 on the tarmack last night waiting for a gate....).

Anyway the battery indicator went all the way down to the two purple-ish bars. Finally I got into the tunnel and traffic moved. I didn't think I was sitting in traffic all *that* long; it made me a little uncomfortable to have gone into two-purple bar mode.

So, what would have happened if bumper to bumper would have continued. Does the car just die?

No. The ICE starts up to recharge the battery. No worries. Just think of all the gas you saved not sitting there with the engine idling like everyone else!

Oooooo. OK, thanks. Good to know.

OK I checked my calendar and see that the Belmar Seafood Festival is next weekend 6/10-11 and I'd like to rally over to that. If anyone from our humble little Prius group is attending, let me know and I'd be into meeting up with you there. Maybe near a lobster stand... heh.

Oh wow - I just saw this - I have not been online for a while (the sun is out and so am I) and I already have plans for this wekend

If anyone goes to this event, please get as much detail as possible - we could recreate it later as needed!

Actually, the seafood festival is the 9th & 10th (Sat & Sun). If you want more information, check out Belmar's website (www.belmar.com).

The festival is right in our neighborhood (we're a little north), but we'll be in Pennsy visiting my dad before he moves himself & his golf swing down to Myrtle Beach. Enjoy!

Good luck parking! You'll need it
