This month's meeting was not as well attended as past meetings. It's still pretty cold out there!!!

Here is some LIPOG news:

- Bruce is making arrangements with Stevens Toyota (1030 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, NY 11746) to host a LIPOG meeting. They will provide food and refreshments and have a Prius tech and possibly a corporate rep in attendence. We are currently looking at a date in April. The consensus is that a Wednesday evening would be best for most people (the service dept. is closed on Sunday, and Saturdays tend to be busy for them). We will need to give them a head count of members who will be attending. Over the next several weeks I'll be sending an email out to get names of who plan to be there.
Bruce is also working on getting some freebies thrown in.

- It looks like our first road trip will be on a Sunday in May to some of the North Fork wineries. We'll plan a BYO lunch, pick up a couple of bottles of a nice vintage, and eat on one of the verandas overlooking the vineyards. It will be a family affair; so bring the wife, husband or significant other along! We'll go as a group, and have a contest along the way to see who gets the best milage for the trip.

- It has been suggested that we charge a nominal "membership fee" to offset the cost of the website and incidentals. What are your thoughts? We are also thinking of chipping in for a raffle. Any thoughts on this?

And lastly, a welcome to William, our newest member with his one month old Magnetic Grey!!!

- The April meet sounds interesting, and Wednesday night works for me too! No school that night. It'll be great to meet a Prius tech in person.

- Family trip will be fun too. We can get to know each other more.

- Regarding the membership fee, I think it's reasonable with the time and work you spent. But it might turn off newcomers. Maybe we can have trail meetings for new members. If they like it, they can stay and pay the fee.

Just to clarify: The membership fee wouldn't be going to me or any one else, but would help defray costs for website and monthly giveaways.

The "first meeting free" suggestion is good. It seems that when new members attend meets they always ask "How much does it cost to join". One member brought up that having a membership fee would give members a sense of ownership and might encourage members to attend meetings on a more regular basis.
We could do something like " the suggested membership fee is xxx", and leave it up to the member to contribute as they see fit. The last thing we want to do is turn off new members by having them think that they have to pay a fee to check out the group.
I'll send out an email survey to see what everyone thinks.
