Good for you, Jack.

That synergy to which you allude is a fairly commonly-experienced phenomenon. Some started waxing eloquent about it in 2001. Some call it the Prius Zen.

You made a smart move, test-driving like that. Heck, I woulda gone on right to the South Rim!

Date Ordered: May 26, 2006
Dealer Ordered: Avondale, Toyota - Avondale, AZ
Timeframe given for delivery: 4-6 weeks
Exterior Color: White or Silver - Surprise Me
Interior Color: Gray
Option Package: #8
Your # on Dealer's Waiting List: ???

Ordered from James Alexander. The dealership is a one price store with the Prius going at MSRP of course. James seems to think 4-6 weeks should be no problem. I guess we'll see. Overall, very good experience with this dealer so far.

Put a deposit down on a 2004 pkg #9 two years ago with an out-of-town dealer. When it became clear he was not going to be able to come through with the car all communication on his part mysteriously stopped. They refused to give my refundable deposit check back so I ended up having to put a stop payment on the check. Got disgusted and bought a Mazda3. Great vehicle. Fun to drive, reliable, decent mpg if driven easily, rotten mpg if driven spiritedly. Still, missed the mpg and wiz-bang on the Prius.

I've been thinking about the Prius for a few months now. I know it doesn't make any financial sense to trade in a great 2 year old car but I couldn't stop thinking about the Prius. So last weekend I rented one for a day and went on a 425 mile test drive from Phx -> Flagstaff -> Holbrook -> Payson -> Phx. The deal was pretty well sealed before I hit Flagstaff. I sort of developed a synergy with the car that is hard to explain. The rest of the test drive was just for fun, I had already made up my mind. The kicker was I managed 52.75 (calc.) on the test drive.

Debated long and hard over the option pkg. It was between a #4 & #6 up until the night before I was putting down the deposit. Then, I decided I really wanted the leather, nav. etc and using the $3150 tax credit, rationalized my way to the #8:-) What the heck, you only go around once and can't take it with you, right?
[/b]

Funny, I did the exact same thing- one year ago. Told them the package I wanted, and I would take a silver or a white- whichever arrived first. Four weeks later, Lola arrived. I would have been happy with whatever. But now, after seeing a lot of different color Prius on the road, I am REALLY happy that the silver arrived first.
Hope yours comes in on time. Enjoy!

Not about Avondale.. but I went through Superstition Springs' Fleet/Internet Department, and it was completely vulture-less. I have communicated entirely through email with one guy. I drove over and dropped off my deposit check one day, which took about 15 minutes, and every week or so he emails me slightly close options. It's been by far the easiest car-buying experience (SO far..) I've ever had..

From what I could tell, Superstition Springs was the cheapest in the Valley. $289 doc fees, and at MSRP. I couldn't find anyone below (not that I particularly expected it), and LOTS of dealers were above. Taxes are cheap in Mesa, too.

Good luck!

Jim Quaranta. I'm sure anyone in the Fleet/Internet Dept would be good to ya.

Friday will be 5 weeks since I put a deposit down and still no word. According to a couple of sources I have talked to, the dealers receive their allocation list on the 1st and 15th of the month. So hopefully something will come thru Sat. on Avondale's latest allocation. If not, I've already contacted a PC recommended salesman at Right and he says he will be able to get me one out the next allocation but wouldn't mind getting another source in case both of those fall through.

Thanks

Yeah, I'm hoping to be offered some near misses to what I want this weekend.. crossing my fingers..
