Bad News! Good News!

My local dealer has been jerking me around since Nov03 on my preorder! :x I've cold called the dealer and found 5 Prius had arrived all colors Package #3,6 and 9's but my contact person the fleet manager was nowhere to be found! :x They didn't want to honor anything he said like selling it for MSRP!!!! $2,500 over only way to get it!!!! They couldn't get a hold of him over his cell phone and called me a lair to my face! That they never have taken any preorders and they have always been $2,500 to $5,000 over MSRP. Three days later all the cars are gone and still no return phone call

! Made a big stink at dealer with other sales reps and even the customer service manager! No help!

I was so pissed I went a test drove an Audio S6? Nice car with power 52k and 21mpg? On the way home a recieved a call from an out of state dealer I had called a few weeks ago looking for a Prius! A customer walked away from a preoder tideland #7? If I wanted it for MSRP? I thought about it call travel agent $120 ticket and 8 hour drive! Hell YES!

Back in January, I called a number of Northern Calif. dealers since I couldn't get a Package #7 in So. Cal. By wonderful luck, Merced Toyota had only one person ahead of me at that time who wanted a non-navigation package. Their car got delivered maybe a week or two after I got on the list, so I was almost immediately at the top. I ordered in early January, got "the call" in early March, and in the meantime I turned down two cars because they weren't Salsa Red (Manny and I have good taste.....). I heartily recommend smaller-town dealers, although even their lists have grown by now with all of the Prius wannabee owners.

I paid for it on my way to the airport! for an 8day vacation! Will fly in and pick it up on thursday!!!!!!!
