to be picked up first or second week of January 2008! Hoping all goes well. For 20 years I have avoided buying a new car because the salespeople made me too mad to buy anything from them. Almost hurt myself choosing the color. Is it really that pretty?

You will love the color it's very nice. My wife thinks I am crazy because I am washing it everyday.

I am in SB too. Where did you get your car? Goleta Toyota wants 30K+ (OTD) for a 2008 pkg#6. I am wondering if a better deal can be made in a location not too far away.

Go to Ventura Toyota and See Kevin Brown. Tell him I sent you he found my car and Toyota of SB is still looking for one. See what Kevin can do for you he is a good guy.

$30k is a lot to pay, unless prices are that much higher in the east than in the west. I wanted an '08 Mag Grey Touring Prius w/pkg #3 and was having a hard time getting it here in CA, so I special ordered one from Oregon. $25,225 OTD but when I get back to CA with it, I have to pay taxes of about $2k. Still an excellent price. If I lived in OR, I wouldn't have to pay a penny in taxes. Mine won't be here until sometime in March probably and I think it will be fun driving it home and making a photography trip out of it. The lowest price I got in CA for a Touring Prius was $26,500 before taxes. So kind of let those prices be your guide and don't do business with salesmen at dealerships. Most dealers now have Intenet sales so you don't even have to show your face at the dealer until you make a deal. Talk to that person or the Fleet Manager and keep bargaining 'til you drop. If you can't find either of those, talk to the sales manager. That's what I did in OR. Always bargain for everything, not just cars.

Thanks for your advice as well. I am jealous of your planned road trip home from Oregon. I was in Portland for a week in September. What a great 'green' city it is.

IT'S HERE!

Okay, I won't yell. Picked up January 16. Love the color. Immediately disabled the backup beep-thank you PriusChat! I do not think I would have purchased this car if that beep were a permanent fixture--yes I really hate it that much!

No hassles at picking up. No pressure or weasley sales gimmicks. If you are buying a Prius in NJ, check out Muller Toyota in Clinton, Mike Brown in Sales and Alex in Internet sales. They gave me best price and got the color and package I wanted AND were pleasant. Every other dealership seemed focused on selling me only what happened to be in their parking lot, at a higher price.

Cost out the door including 7% NJ sales Tax: $25,094.90

Darn, I only have a 3 mile commute! No way I'll see its full potential this morning at 24 F. temperature.

I am a afraid that my town may fill up with smug.....looking out the window at 2 Prii, Tidelands Pearl 2005 and Spectra Blue Mica 2008.
