08 seaside pearl, touring, package 6

Dealer: Classic Toyota, Round Rock, TX
Timeframe given for delivery: 3 weeks to 3 months
Color: 1st choice-Seaside Pearl, 2nd choice-Silver
Option Package: #6 - also XM satellite radio

The dealership is large - recently received "President"s Award", reportedly has very low turnover of personnel. I toured the service area - clean enough to eat off the floor. Much of Texas is flaming conservative (think Bush). However, the greater Austin area is quite liberal - conducive to hybrid cars and tree huggers. I was told that only about 5 % of Prius cars come equipped as touring models with package #6. I don't understand the so called allocation system of car delivery and assignment to prospective owners. Does anybody out there know how it really works?

I ordered a spectra blue touring with package 6 from a dealership on the 9th. The salesman said that they first allocate the vehicle from different dealerships in a 250 mile range, and if there is no luck with that they then order the car from toyota.

We ordered our Spectra Blue Mica on April 12th. The dealer called us yesterday with a Silver pkg. 5 that they could get us. I'm pretty much set on the Spectra Blue so we turned him down. We did tell him we'd be willing to go with a pkg. 6 or touring in a 5 or 6. He's still telling us it will be about two weeks before he can order it due to the dealers allocations. That's fine. I'm not willing to change colors unless it's absolutely unavailable, so I guess we go back to the waiting list. It's okay, though. It will sooooo totally be worth it!!

I just emailed the salesmen I ordered my car from and he said that I will probably be getting the Prius towards the end of May. I like you don't mind waiting for the color I want, I am just wondering if I might have to wait longer cause I have been reading on here that they have stopped production of the 2008 and are getting ready to make 2009 (same style). I wouldn't mind having a 2009, but I don't really want to wait till September to get it, 15 MPG is killing me with summertime gas prices...
