Friends: 0 | Volkswagen have finally confirmed they will reveal 3 new Bluemotion cars at Frankfurt next week (source Telegraph/WhatCar). Its Official: The most frugal of the three will be the New VW Polo Bluemotion which will offer 85.5 MPG The new VW Polo Bluemotion will cost just £13k in the UK which is over £5k less than an entry price Prius. It will also be greener than the Prius emitting 2 g/km less than the Toyota! I was seriously considering getting my new 3rd Gen Prius next year but now i'm not sure if I can justify paying more for a Hybrid that isn't as green as the VW Diesel! |

Friends: 0 | From a 'greenie' perspective I can see where you're coming from but consider a couple of points: 1. It's also a class size down from the Prius which doesn't make it a supermini bargain. 2. I'm pretty sure it won't include features such as an automatic gearbox, air conditioning and an engine that actually moves the car faster than walking pace. I've been in one of the old BlueMotion Polos and have to report they were very noisy and slow. And on that note, hello to everyone from both myself and culltec who are united in being UK newbies. |

Friends: 3 | nothing is stopping Toyota from putting an HSD drivetrain in a Yaris or similar smaller vehicle. |

Friends: 12 | 1.2 liter 3-cylinder 74 hp engine with a 5-speed manual transmission won't appeal to the majority of the consumers here anyway. . |

Friends: 0 | Sorry didn't mean to upset anyone with my first post! ![]() With regards to the supermini comment, I wouldn't call this brand new VW Polo Bluemotion a Supermini. Its got 5 doors and can comfortably carry 4 passengers with luggage. And at 85.5mpg it can save a heap load of cash! I still love the Prius and think hopefully may one next year, but you've got to admit its gonnabe difficult for me to explain my reasons for owning the much more expensive Toyota. A car thats more expensive to buy, run and is less green than the All New VW Polo when it arrives next Spring. |

Friends: 23 | Explain? It's bigger, more comfortable, quieter, more powerful (don't those type of people love 0-60 numbers? Or simply tell them. At that size, it better be more efficient than a D-Class vehicle else it's embarrassing. |
