Huh? the rear end is one of the best styling features. It has to stay.

A package # 6 today runs $28,350 with the Z1 addon. 14 months ago it was about $29500 before the ($2000) EcoBonus. It was never at anytime $26000.

Crap. Bigger, more powerful, and still burning gas. Swell. Maybe we can make an SUV out of it next.

Relax. They said it will be more efficient than the current.

Sounds like the plug-in hybrid in year 2010 will be just what you need.

------------

Side note - here in the Sf Bay area, we've got Tesla Motors talking about a $60k , 5-seater, coming in 'a couple years' to be built locally, an all-electric, 220 mile range, 3 ish hours to recharge ....

come on .... few people will buy that. I can't afford an all-electric, just for work, must find a place to plug in for the night car.

rant over.

----------
to the poster, unless 'they' find a way to recharge a battery in 5 or 10 minutes, some size of gas / diesel, quick and easy to fill-up cars will be around for the masses.

A few mpg don't impress me at this stage of the game. If they can make a larger, more powerful car "more efficient" then I'd imagine that they could have made the same size/power (or smaller and less powerful) care quite a bit *more* efficient. Why must EVERY model of every car get bigger with each generation?

I'd rather skip the hybrid part and go full-on EV. But then nobody asked me.

What makes you say that? The same thing that made people say that few people would buy the Prius in the early years? Of course nobody would buy the $100k Roadster either... oops! Sold way more of those than they'd planned already!

I'm not sure what this means so can't/won't respond.

Until "they" (meaning the general population in this case) figure out that fast-charging is not needed for most driving, and that slow charging is astonishingly convenient... we may be stuck with liquid fuel for quite a while longer.... at *some* price. When "they" figure out that fast-charging has been around (and used extensively) for 15 years, I guess we'll continue to think that liquid fuel is better in all ways. When "they" figure out that fast charging stations are easier and cheaper to install than any gasoline or (gasp) Hydrogen station, I guess maybe EVs will finally be acceptable to the masses.

Why search for all the ways that EVs don't work? Way easier to concentrate on how they DO already work for many situations.

Ferarri make a range of cars few people will ever buy, should they stop making them?
Benz made the first car, few people bought it but he made it any way. Look what became of that!!

Excellent. Bigger, more powerful, more efficient and stills burns gas which will give it unlimited range. Something I need and no EV can match. Actually, I could do without the bigger, more powerful part but wouldn't eliminate it just because of it. Glad they didn't make it a full EV as it would eliminate it from a possible replacement for my current Prius if I ever decide to sell it.

Wow! I am loving the direction Toyota has gone with their design. I already know and I going to get the Gen III but now I have a pretty good idea of what it might look like. Danny, Thanks for posting those pics.
