I would suggest that you simply ask Eric Ivanshceck to be openminded to newer and better chiocies for cars and trucks as they become available.  Eric is correct in that people are free to do what they want and it is my opinion that guilting people into buying high mileage chioces will not work.  Only the option of a better product will, such as the Prius.

that attitude is rather short sighted. i being not that young, (mid 40's) no longer believe that the oil supply will be adequate to last my lifetime much less my son who is only 9.

transportation is one thing, but oil has other uses that will most likely be much tougher to replace. i think we need to work the easier solutions first in order to give us more time for the tougher solutions we need to come up with and hybrid technology is a pretty good way of stretching what we have left.

Excuse me? I'll be grinning next year as I remember your quote, when I collect my $3150.00 tax credit.

My SUV doesn't burn as clean.  It doesn't have a back-up camera.  It doesn't have navigation, side air-bags, or as high a safety rating.

Mine does.

...and it has heated seats too!

OK. so my Saab and SUV both have heated seats... I concede that small point. Actually, I'm really going to miss heated seats when the Prius finally arrives.

Eric,

Try this response, "there are no laws against acting stupid".

There will never be CHEAP GAS again in the USA.  Those days are over.  My wife and I are just glad that we can save a few bucks at the pump each time we need to fill up.  Since we drive 3,000 miles a month, we are finally noticing our monthly fuel bills dropping.  Even weasel face bush says that we should drive hybrids.  Although I would bet that we will never ever see a weasel driving a hybrid.  I have enough money to drive what I want, and what I want is to drive a hybrid to work.  If I hit the powerball and bag a million or two, then I would probably drive an SUV that ran on bio diesel, then I could be a bio weasel.....

Dave

05 Prius averaging about 48 MPG.  When I slow down, I save more....

GO BIG ED ON AIR AMERICA

I to can afford to drive around any large SUV or truck as far as gas goes. Do I want to? No. I would much prefer the smooth quiet ride of the Prius and enjoy its low fuel consumption than drive around in a huge SUV/Truck that doesn’t ride nearly as smooth consuming much more fuel. If I need to tow or haul something large then I’ll use a larger vehicle with more power that consumes more gas. People should have a choice in what they drive and be offered a wide variety of vehicles at reasonable prices. The problem doesn’t lie with America not building proper vehicles to accommodate these requests, the attempt is made but at a poor quality compared to foreign vehicles and with a much higher price tag.
America relies mainly on importing goods than exporting and the cost on American made products reflect this. Due to the high cost of living in America, we can’t afford to build our own products at such low costs as other countries, such as China, thus we rely as consumers on imported goods. This problem started long ago during the Industrial Revolution, not when Bush came into office.

Because when the temperatures plummet to 70 degrees, our bums would freeze to the leather without the heated seats!
