It's not easy being ... jade, emerald, lime. We're tired of the word "green" and refuse to use it. Although it has come to mean environmentally friendly, it can also imply naiveté, immaturity or a lack of sophistication. Not fair. The 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid sedan is pure smarts. It's fresh, refined and above all, very, very normal. It deserves a new hue. Sage is a good variation. It's descriptive and wise at the same time.

More than any other hybrid we've driven, the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid has the most seamless transition between electric motor and gasoline engine. If we didn't tell you it was a hybrid and let you drive it, we doubt you would notice. And unlike Toyota's Prius, which was purposely designed to look special with its little shifter and Alpine cable car-like design, the Camry Hybrid looks almost identical to the non-hybrid Camry. They're driving among us and you don't even know it.

While the hybrid Camry is a good, slightly larger option, it's fuel efficiency is approx. 25% less than my Prius - I'll sacrifice the 1-2" legroom

My parents would never consider a Prius. But....they might a Camry. The one thing they won't like is the limited trunk space. Then again....my Dad doesn't play golf anymore.

The Prius doesn't have the creature comforts they demand....leather and heated seats. Plus they aren't very adventurous and would rather have a "normal" looking car.

I'm hoping to talk them into a Camry hybrid for their next car purchase.

I'm not sure how many of us own both, but I do. And I drive the HyCam more then the Prius now. I miss some of the things about the Prius, like, I prefer the dash arm for the shifter. And I like the digital speedo more then the standard one the HyCam has. However, the 'tach' that is in the HyCam is cool.

The HyCam is quieter, and drives smoother, and is faster then the Prius.

The MPG I am getting, with the HyCam, is closer to the sticker then what I get (got, I should say, before the aftermarket rims), then I got in the Prius. Overall, one is not better then the other, but if people start driving a Hybrid because this car looks more 'normal' then the Prius, then I am all for it.

One is good for the planet.
The other is good for the soul.
