IntelliChoice.com's best car deals for July.

Almost all available hybids made the best car deals list for July.

Subcompact Honda Insight (Manual)
Compact over $16,000 Honda Civic Hybrid (Auto)
Midsize under $21,000 Toyota Prius
Compact Utility over Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD
$21,000
Intermediate Utility Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2WD
over $29,000

Unfortunately the Lexus hybrids didn't make the list. The Accord hybrid isn't there either. Neither is the Camry Hybrid. Maybe it's a little too soon for the Cambrid. Too bad they're not going to make the Insight anymore. I'll be the resale value of those goes way up.

I don't understand how the Insight is a good subcompact deal when you can barely buy one, and there's better alternatives of the Fit or xA.

I don't understand why the manual transmission version (only) of the Honda Insight made the list. Unlike the automatic version, it was disqualified from the federal hybrid tax credits.

I'm impressed that in their press release Intellichoice refers to the value of lower ownership costs over customer and dealer sales incentives such as cash back, rebates, and low cost financing when Intellichoice completely fails to account for most of these in their analysis. I've found that the Intellichoice target prices are off base, normally stay too close to MSRP, and penalize low demand cars that are actually selling at much lower prices when new. Offering a $5,000 cash back incentive wouldn't make any difference in Intellichoice's appraisal. They'd simply ignore it.

I'm even more impressed that even here, a report that claims hybrids save their owners money is only criticized. Intellichoice has really lost their reputation.
