Mitsubishi to sell electric car in the U.S.

LAS VEGAS -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. plans to sell a small electric car in the United States.

President Osamu Masuko said the vehicle, powered by a lithium-ion battery, will be launched first in Japan. A hybrid version of the car also might be available, Masuko added.

I believe this will be the best platform for plug-in hybrid.

The styling is just for a concept car.

They'll start fleet testing with electric power companies in 2007.

I wish they'd stop doing that. It's not really "zero emissions" unless you put an asterisk and indicate that you actually mean "zero emissions emitted from the vehicle itself. please contact your local power supplier to find out how much carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur, and/or other air-borne pollutants they generate in the create of the electricity required to power your vehicle."

Now granted, I'd rather that all the power be generated in a centralized and controlled manner than coughing out the back of 100,000 vehicles of questionable maintenance. I just want people to understand that nothing is for free.

The specs suggest a 16 or 20 kWh battery, and 5 miles per kWh which is pretty good.

Ken, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, could you translate the charge time for the 50 kW charger please?

Well, where I live you can get all your electricity from 0 carbon methods if you choose..... As I do.
