Friends: 0 | Yes, this is news, although it's not very surprising news. As for having 12 in the top 10... I noticed the Escape & Mariner hybrids tied for 10th place, which at least makes it 11 in the top 10. There must be another tie somewhere in there to make it 12, though that still would make it the "top 12" and not "top 10." They should have re-worded that. They also should have included the "top 10" info in a list, so readers would know what placed where. They only mention what placed first, second, third, fourth, tenth, and tenth.

Friends: 0 | Here's the list from the EPA site: http://www.epa.gov/fueleconomy/overall-high.htm The Yaris took two spots (5th and 6th) because they counted the manual and automatic transmission seperately. A Hyundai and Kia tied for 9th. And the Ford Escape 4WD and Mercury Mariner 4WD (really the same car) tied for 10th. |

Friends: 23 | It's only right to mention that the Prius inherited the number one spot from the Honda Insight. Sure, some would argue that it's a niche car, but a well-driven Insight could kick a well-driven Prius' butt any day. |
