On CNN.com today:

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/autos/...op_picks/9.html

The civic of course made it into the list as well, but they mention that the hybrid version only got 37mpg. I wonder how they test these vehicles, considering that the average reported for the Civic hybrid on greenhybrid.com is around 46mpg!

Interesting how Toyota had 4 cars in the list (also had the Sienna and Rav4), and Honda had 3. American manufacturers had 1 or O depending on if the Mazda is considered American or not.

Not a good sign for the Big 3 again, as it is the second year in a row with no American vehicles in to 10. The 11th slide mentions that 23 of 20 Toyota vehicles tested by CR are recommended, while only 13 of 37 GM's are.

Yeah, my mom's 2006 Civic Hybrid tends to get 38-42mpg on average (so far this winter) with the heater running alot. The worst my Prius has got in the snow being parked outside at night and running the heater is 45mpg, and in summer that jumps to 55+mpg easy. Even though the Civic Hybrid doesn't do as good as the Prius my mom loves the way it looks and drives, not to mention she rarely has to fill it up with gas and when she does it usually is less than $20.

I guess that means the next 3 models that Toyota produces are already recommended - I'd take those odds any day.

You and me both! . I just wish they would hurry up with a hybrid Rav4 and/or hybrid Sienna.
