I'm suffering a distinct lack of whelm by the details in the article. The article's implication is that there are zero changes to the Prius, other than a $150 bump in the MSRP for the touring model (which I have on order and should be arriving in port 'any day now,' hence my intense and immediate interest if something Really-lose-my-deposit-Cool, like power seats, has snuck into the 2008 model ). Are there any official channels that may have a touch more info?

$20,950 base price without the cruise control and heated rearview mirrors. I guess the side airbags will still be standard.

I am new to the forum and planning on gettting a prius b/t mid to end of aug. Will the 2008 model be ready by then? if so should I stick to the 2007 model since it has more "standards" than the 2008 or I should just get the new 2008. I plan on getting PKG #5 which has navi. but not leather trim. Thank you

hmm... Toyota Pressroom doesn't say much other than the price drop. Weird..

looks like you guys will finally get the Yaris hatchback (or liftback as TMS calls it.. although really, a Prius is a liftback.. the Yaris is proper hatchback... way to confuse the consumers... <_< )

oh btw, Salsa Red Pearl is back... it's on the GX470.

Los Angeles area dealers are probably amongst the first to receive the new models due to their proximity to the harbor.

I did not read the press release to mean that all the '08s will have less standard equipment, only that there will be a new cheaper base model with less standard equipment. The rest of the packages should be approximately the same as they are in '07.

If you go for the '07, make sure that you get it for a price that takes into account the fact that it will be last year's model within weeks, if not days.

Yes, that's the way I interpreted it, too. The Bloomberg article that HBO6 linked to makes it much clearer. There will be three models of Prius in 08: standard, base and Touring. Sounds like the standard is a stripped-down version of the base model.

Noticed the comment about the standard not having heated rearview mirrors. Did the 07 Prius have those, or is that new for 08?
