According to Rubin, Founder of Miles Automotive Group, the XS 500 has a top speed of 80 miles per hour and a range of 120 miles at 60 miles per hour. That's about as fast as GM's late-90s era electric car, the EV 1. And the XS 500 will be a lot cheaper to produce, the company says.

Starting at $30,000, by 2009 if all "goes according to plan".

Considering how abysmal the crash test performance is on Chinese cars I'd say "hell no!".

My answer to the question was "no" as soon as you got to the word "Chinese".

Amazingly bad. Looking at the Brilliant BS 6 crash test footage would've been funny if real people hadn't actually bought that thing. I almost expected Will Farrell to come walking out at the end and make some smart ass joke.

To be sold on the american market it will have to meet our saftey standards. The famous Chinese car that failed miserably didn't even try to make it to US shores (not sure why).

As I can drive at mostly none high-way speeds I would consider a chinese EV if that is the only car i can afford (and/or on the market).

No.

I'd be willing if the Japanese made it. Or the Germans.

If the slogan in the factory is "Quality is Job 1. Beheading the slacker is Job 2." then maybe. Seriously, it will have to meet the same quality & reliability standards that a GM product would before it even gets considered.

I'm trying to avoid purchasing products of Chinese origin.

Sounds a lot like, would you buy a Japanese car? 30 years ago.
Some of you may remember, the Japanese toys with interior American can graphics. The sentiment was largely the same towards products from that country as well, yet here we are all happily conversing about our wonderfully advanced Japanese cars - cars that have smoked our own products.
Time will tell, chances are the computer your reading this on is largely Chinese.
