Toyota had to narrow the price-gap between U.S.A. and Canada, they had no choice.
I bought my Prius in June in Oregon and saved $12,000! I guess with this new price change I only saved $7000-$9500, still worth the very small hassle I had to import it.

Toyota does honour the warranty, if I bought a Honda they do not. It is explicitly written in the respective Warranties. The Toyota warranty is North American-wide, Honda’s is not, it is just a USA warranty for cars sold in USA. There were 65,000 US cars imported into Canada in the past twelve months, with Free-Trade it is simple to do.

The so-called extra $2500 of included options is the same as the Touring version in rhe USA, but the catch is the Touring version only adds $900 to the price in the US. I know this because my Prius is the Touring model. They shouldn't B.S. us, should they?

It is an excellent car wherever you buy it from.

Wow I looked into importing a new one but was discouraged by the lack of clear instructions available. Decided it might not be worth it and chickened out. Glad to see somebody knows how to do it. You should start a small business helping people import cars.

And none of this answers the question: Why is there ANY price difference between US and Canadian models AT ALL?

The Euro went over $1.40 US today. Please spend your Euros and Canadian $$ in the U.S. We can use the help!!

Especially as now the Canadian dollar is equal in value to the American dollar.
  • Canadian Dollar Reaches Parity with U.S.
    by Rob Gillies

TORONTO (AP) — The Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S. dollar on Thursday for the first time since November 1976.

Known as the loonie because of the bird pictured on the one-dollar coin, the Canadian dollar has been gaining ground on its American counterpart since hitting an all-time low of 61.79 U.S. cents on Jan. 21, 2002.

This was standard on the base in 07, why would it change on 08?

I guess Canadians can get a little "hybrid" with their spelling . When I was up in BC a couple of years ago, I saw a sign on a store that said "TIRE CENTRE".

(Instead of the British "TYRE CENTRE" or the U.S. "TIRE CENTER" spelling)
