Toyota passed a milestone in mid-2007 when it sold its one millionth hybrid car.

Other manufacturers such as Honda, Nissan, Ford, and General Motors also offer hybrids to an increasingly fuel-conscious clientele. Every manufacturer claims to be developing more efficient batteries, more efficient engines, and better designs.

But this class is not growing as fast as Toyota's sales achievement might suggest. In fact, looking ahead to 2008, what's notable is not a bunch of new models. What is notable is what is missing.[/b]

I don't think there is anything really new here, but it's interesting to see a somewhat negative article about hybrids -- not because they are not good for some reason but because new ones (and new batteries) are not coming out fast enough!

I remember what John Carmack said about releasing.... "it will be out when it is ready".

It is better to find and correct the issue rather than recalling the product in the hand of consumers.

Toyota is denying that there will be a delay. There isn't even a confirmation that the next generation of Prius will use either Li-ion or NiMH.... not that I am aware of..

sounds good. Toyota has been releasing a hybrid every year

Sept 2003 - 2004 Prius
May 2004 - 2005 RXh + HiHy
2005 - 2006 GSh
Aug 2006 - 2007 TCH
2007 - 2008 LSh + 2008 HiHy

I wonder what's gonna be launched next year.
