My Car: Other Non-Hybrid Package: N/A Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 1 | "Chrysler is planning to bring a hybrid-electric Dodge Ram pickup to the U.S. market by 2010. Later this year, Chrysler will also introduce the Aspen and Dodge Durango hybrids. Supposedly this is just the beginning of Chrysler’s hybrid onslaught. Jim Press, Chrysler’s new vice president, said previously that that Chrysler “absolutely” expects to provide a hybrid or diesel variants of all their models." Chrysler planning a hybrid variant for Dodge Ram (If no one else offers a hybrid truck, Dodge will have the market to themselves) "Nissan and Chrysler announced a deal in which both automakers will share vehicles. Chrysler will get a Nissan small car to sell in North America while Nissan’s next-generation Titan will be built by Chrysler. While C.E.O. Nardelli did not name any automakers that Chrysler is considering, he said that any future decisions depend on the market demand." Chrysler open to buying models from other automakers "Chrysler will be launching its first hybrids later this year with the 2009 Chrysler Aspen and the Dodge Durango HEMI SUVs. The company is already exploring the possibility of expanding its hybrid offerings into other vehicles. According to Mike Accavitti, Dodge Brand director, Chrysler’s engineers are looking on what car will go hybrid next" Chrysler to offer more hybrids, Dodge Avenger and Journey may be next Last edited by Rybold; 06-02-2008 at 07:15 AM. |

Unless Toyota is really asleep at the wheel they shouldn't have much to worry about. A 10 year head start on the technology is a huge advantage that they should be able to continue to leverage. Being in it early I believe their patent coverage is pretty good too. Hence the whole Ford Escape royalty payment issue. Rob |

Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes that GM, and really almost every other Hybrid manufacturer (except Prius, insight, HCH), has made by making Hybrid's that don't get significantly better mileage than current models. |
