I smell fear in the mainstream. They are circling the wagons...hybrids are not just a fad. The Prius is making more economic sense with rising fuel prices. More importantly, hybrids are making more economic sense.

Change can be difficult...especially if you are on different side of it.

My opinion of the Prius' physical appearance is best described by the phrase...Beauty is more than skin deep. My deep interest in the hybrid tech is the biggest reason that I like the Prius. If all the cars in the auto industry offered a HSD powertrain, the Prius body and interior would not be my first choice. Sorry guys.

Diesel owners who run on free used veggie oil are laughing even harder. Wonder how many truckers are doing it. This is a bigger story than hybrids, and the media has missed it.

I agree used grease is an energy resource that should be utilized, but how mainstream can that become? Personally I can't quite see soccer moms driving around scavenging for used grease from restaurants.

It has already been in the news out here on the West coast. People are stealing grease from the storage containers at Oakland (Network Assoc?) Coliseum and other locations in the SF Bay Area. There are companies that have contracts to collect the grease and finding that others are beating them to it.

There are so many Prius's in Silicon Valley and in California. They don't stand out as much as they used too. I don't agree with California politics and many other things, but I do agree about the Prius.

You modify your lifestyle of course.. That's what happens when conditions change. Maybe you cannot purchase that case of beer this week. Maybe you have to give up Starbucks. Maybe you need to stop smoking, or turn off your cable tv, or, or, or,.......

I've known two other people who've been interviewed and they've both said the same thing. I remember my mass media instructor (who was also a reporter for a local daily newpaper) talking about eliminating bias in reporting, but when you need to condense a 30 minute interview down to 30 seconds, some "flavoring" of the article will occur.
