I won't really get excited until I see a plug-in version of the Prius; until then, my '07 will suit me just fine...

That's the only thing I wish I had now in my Prius--plug-in capability so that I would almost never have to use any gas.

I don't think that is the switch to the left of the 12v dc outlet but who knows until we get clearer pics.

But wasn't the switch 'toyota' released a picture of more of a tan or beige? I'm assuming that switch will be grey in a grey interiored prius... Here's to hoping they offer black leather, I loved having that in my TL before I got my current prius...

Keeping the interior cool in hot weather will reduce the need for AC which will help gas mileage. If the solar panels tie into the 12v system at all it will minimize the small but real impact the computers and other 12v accessories put on the mpg.

I had debated whether to buy my 08 when I did or wait for the next gen. Now I'm glad I bought my 08.

In terms of the interior, what I do like is the dash, I think it has a much nicer "flowing" and "cohesive" appearance. I do not like the center console though, it's too big.

As for the exterior, that new front end is FUGLY. It looks like some guy tried to stick a Corolla / Matrix front end on in his back yard. If I wanted an ugly Toyota I would have bought one. The 2G Prius is nice, cool, futuristic. The 3G Prius looks like everything else, it's no longer unique. It's sad really.

Well I'll hang on to my 08 for a while longer :-) If they come out with a Lexus version of this that looks nice call me and I'll come in for a test drive.

Whether Toyota leaked these photos on purpose or not, this viral marketing campaign has taken the net by storm. Priuschat will become a household name pretty soon. Is it trademarked yet?

While Toyota has confirmed that this is the next Prius, we weren’t told why the headlights don’t match in two of the photos. The large front three-quarter view shows a headlight that sweeps back into the hood and fender—much like those on the new Nissan Maxima—to include what appears to be a turn-signal lamp. In the close-up view of the passenger-side headlight, we see a more conventionally shaped unit, with the turn indicator instead housed in the lower fascia just above the fog lamp. A possible explanation: We may be looking at an internal design study that is being used to decide the final details of Toyota’s newest hybrid. This is not unheard of, as Chevrolet recently did something similar with the Camaro by creating a styling buck that was half of one design and half of another.

The car’s interior styling is again more evolution than revolution. Whether or not you like the current Prius’s interior layout, no one can deny that it’s different. A lot of that seems to have gone out the window; the car loses its dash-mounted shift lever, for example, with it now being placed lower down on the center console. Other notable changes include a larger center stack display, as well as a multi-color wraparound instrument panel at the top of the dash. What was once wasted space between the armrest and dashboard is now bridged, creating a storage area beneath the climate controls and shift lever. PriusChat forum members have also noticed a new port next to the 12-volt outlet, which could possibly be a 110-volt outlet or an iPod/auxiliary input...
