maybe its a non slip pad, so you won't trip when reaching for the door handle with a wet thumb or finger and possibly cause a fall

Outside. Inside is silver and the shape is not the same as seen in previous Bossdowner leaked pics.

Can it be a safety device? What if it records the sound from outside?

What if it makes sound? The door unlock chirp should be louder. What if it makes sound so pedestrians hear you when in EV mode?

What if it senses heat? Well, that wouldn't make sense.

What if it detects the rain? What is the purpose of having it on the door handle? It is not like there is a wiper for the window.

After going back and watching BOSSDOWNER's Youtube video in high quality, I don't think this is the door handle, inside or out. I'm not sure what it is. It does look a lot like a handle though. Maybe it's the trunk release, or the handle for the trunk on the outside.

Magnetic Gray 2010 Prius color confirmed!

I looked at the pic again and I am not sure if it is outside anymore. It looks like plastic without paint on it.

What can it be on the door that looks something like that? We all assumed that it is the handle. Why is there a rubber seal?

Maybe since Prius team said "Every new Prius driver will be happy to see this on his/her door", they are making keyless entry standard and not an option anymore. Also, I'd guess they got rid of the black button and you just touch this area same as we do now with the black button.

Other guess could be similar to above in that they got rid of the black button, but keyless entry is still an option, but they have added it to both the front and rear doors. It is annoying to have to touch the front door handle everytime I only need to grab something from the back seat.
