Interesting guess...I would like to add here that perhaps this may be displayed on the "MFD", in the center of the console.
Have we seen any of that yet?

i think with "hypermiling" popular enough to be added to the dictionary as "word of they year" this display simply allows that without having to sacrifice the normal screen

would have been difficult to maintain the "no arrrow" if nav was running i would think... this eliminates that inconvenience i would think.

The leaked video is subject to change, quite possibly filmed using an older pre-production model.

Our credible source is the provider of the peeks. Those are much more likely to reflect what we will actually have an opportunity to purchase.

And of course, there's always the chance that multiple configurations will be offered.

I still want to believe that:

1. The nav screen is just for navigation, the radio ipod controls etc but not climate control since the climate control has its own screen.

2. The center mounted MFD does what we see in the video's; shows button presses on the wheel, the car with the arrows showing motor/engine driving the wheels etc, dumby lights and here's a guess but that MPH we see in it may show cruise control set speed(?)

and 3. that the image below appears either on an HUD in front of the driver on the windshield -or- in its own seperate 'mini cluster'l in front of the driver up near the windshield.

climate control is not shown on instrument panel - all thats shown there is options from steering wheel... I would expect full climate control options to still be on the nav screen...

my original guess was HUD as well for the new sneak peak, but different colors wouldnt go on HUD... i would think it is simpler screen on instrument panel for people that dont have NAV...

But there is a seperate climate control screen now below the nav screen... (See pic below) I'm glad they did this, climate control needs dedicated buttons and a dedicated screen if you ask me. It would have worked in the iconic prius if done 'properly' but having the compressor kick on every time you press the button on the wheel and then have to goto the mfd to turn off a/c but leave it in auto was lame...

I think you are wrong. As you can see in the next picture (made by kinghuang), climate controls are under the NAV screen.

I think toyota has taken this approach to allow the user to choose between a full featured NAV touchscreen or a cheaper CD player. In this spy shot, the CD player is visible:

you are probably right, thats extensive screen for climate control... some models have both, but i think i am looking too much to my lexus, while they might want to save some money on Prius by having standard controls independent of navi (while on lexus you have both). It is probably going to be more like Auris/Rav4 where there is no additional climate options on navi...

Ok, i understand...
So we'll have to wait until the official unveiling in Detroit to see where these peeks are located I can't wait!!
