Top lawmaker wants mileage-based tax on vehicles

Minnesota Representative Oberstar is intent in pushing forward with requiring governmental leashes on every motor vehicle driven on public roads to come up with a taxing device that factors in mileage, but not the more road damaging metric - vehicle weight!

Please email your U.S. House Representatives and let them know how you feal about this ASAP. Oberstar has got to get the message that this is an un-american intrusion of privacy, un-american non-tarrif trade restraint, unpatriot promotion of over-consumption of foriegn produced oil, and unfair to people who actually care enough to avoid fuel taxes, that they buy lightweight cars (those that do the minimal damage to roads). Besides being an assault on the profession of engineering. I can only think of putting the Fiberforge.com (and Amory Lovins and crew), the Toyota, Ford and Honda hybrid car engineers all in jail, that would result in a more sudden end to the US movement to better fuel economy vehicles, than this law!!

Tell him if he needs money - he should do it in a FAIR MANNER OR NOT AT ALL. And if that means a higher fuel volume based tax - so be it. If he is afraid he will loose his next election over a gas tax hike - LETS BE SURE TO TELL HIM HE DEFINATELLY WILL LOOSE IT OVER A MILEAGE TAX (AKA ANKLE BRACELET FOR YOUR CAR TAX) !!!!

You can also tell this hidden SUV tax break promoter that WE - those who get good gas mileage - HAVE ALREADY PAID OUR STATES SALES TAXES IN EXCESS OF VEHICLES THAT GET WORSE MILEAGE - AND HAVE ALREADY PAID UP FRONT EXTRA TAXES TO MAINTAIN THE ROADS!!! And WE DO NOT LIKE TO BE TAXED TWICE FOR THE SAME SERVICES!

FORD, HONDA USA, and TOYOTA USA - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LOBBY THE HELL OUT OF THIS GUY!!!!
