Friends: 0 | Absolutely amazing. As I recall, Toyota pays its' employees less than the (former Big Three American) UAW workers. Sounds like it is better to work for a lower wage and have the company retain your services in case of a down turn in business rather than to be dumped on the street with no job at all. We could learn something from Toyota - It is better to be less greedy and have a long-term perspective on business rather than to strive for instant gratification. Keith |

Friends: 0 | They are making their relationship with their workers more solid at the same time as making them more productive when they return to work. They also do not need to pay out more in unemployment (insurance) payments. There is an up front cost of paying the workers for three months, but it seems to be a very smart move. |

Friends: 2 | Toyota has also earned what money can't buy--loyalty. This is also the strength of the family owned & operated business. The most valuable asset any corporation has is its employees. If one wants to know what's wrong & how to fix it just ask the people doing the job. |
