Default Most difficult thing to get used to with your Prius

The one thing that I still haven't gotten used to is how short the nose of the car is. I park as close to the wall (office parking space) as I am comfortable with and when I get out, I see that there's still three feet of distance between car and wall. When I park in my garage, I always back too far in and there's loads of space in front but I have to squeeze to get to the rear hatch. I always overestimate. I'll figure it out some day, though, I'm sure.

I think you've hit upon it. That's the thing I still haven't gotten the hang of, after more than 6 months.

The solution to that is to attach a little antenna from your licence plate holder and put a small plastic or rubber ball on the top. That's allowed us to park within 6 inches of something... on purpose, that is.

For me it's backing up. I still feel as though I can't see enough.

As for the short nose, I think you can get used to that and over time get better and better at judging the distances.

But I still feel like I'm gonna get creamed when I back up.

Dang, Canuck, in Michigan, we don't have front license plates so we don't generally have front license plate mounts.

I like the controls on the steering wheel but I'm having a lot of trouble adjusting to honking the horn.

So many people don't know how to use the side view mirrors so they're always either cutting me off or trying to move over when I am along side them.

I don't own one yet, but I did rent one for a weekend from Enterprise.

My biggest problem is when stopped at a traffic light or anywhere really. The ICE shuts off. It is very un-nerving. I usually have cars that are junk and when the engine shuts off where it shouldn't it is usually a bad thing. But with the Prius it is normal. My heart skipped a beat every time it did it.

I'm surprised at how easily I adapted to the Prius, actually. I'm delighted when the engine stops when I stop. The visibility through the rear window isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm still getting used to the short nose and backing up, but it's only been a few days and I'm sure it'll be fine.

What I do find a tad inconvenient is not always having all the controls immediately available (i.e., having to first push "CLIMATE" or "AUDIO" to get to those controls). I wouldn't say it bothers me, though. I'm just way too in love with the car!

I can't get used to the limited visibility out of the rear of the car. I'm just not used to that flat rear window. With my Corolla, I am able to use the rear view mirror more to see in the blind spots. That's difficult to do with the '05 Prius.
