Real World testing and rental impressions

Well folks, I have been reading about all of enthusiasm and prices being paid for Prius. I am seriously considering buying one for use in So. Cal carpool lanes, with high MPG as an added benefit.

With that in mind I went to a local dealership. No Prius available for purchase, but salesman did say last of 05's are on a ship in the Pacific. Production of 06 starts in November and arrive in Dec on west coast.

This dealership has a demo Prius which is available for rental as well.
I examined a Prius being serviced for recall. I don't know what trim line it was. Seats were basic, with minimal padding and side bolstering. Plastic over steering column was thin. Car had HVO stickers taped to windows. There is an unusual angle of vision when sitting in the drivers position, maybe perceptual artifact, due to shape of long dash board. BTW, I'm 5'8", 165lbs.

Did not drive test yet, but will post opinions after 24 hour test period.
