Great, thank you.

I figured it was unlikely that it was for rear heat etc.

You are correct, it's a vent.

Where does the heat from the cooled battery go?

When you have the AC on in the summer, into the cabin seems like the wrong answer.

In the winter, into the cabin seems like a good idea.

An important thing to remember is that because it's a vent, it shouldn't get covered by anything. Most of the time it won't, but if you toss a jacket back there, just watch where it goes.

You are correct on both counts. It is a "vent" but is the intake side not the discharge vent. One could assume that the cabin will be the most thermally stable place at about 70*f year round. While in use of course. The HVECU monitors HV batt temp and when conditions are correct, will start the cooling/ventilation fan. The fan draws clean 70*f air in the circled vent, across the top of the bat right to left, then left to right across the botom of the bat. It discharges externaly thru a body vent behind the right rear wheel.
Regards, Mike

Not that this thread needs more replies, but I think this diagram makes things clearer for folks.

According to the manual, you are not to cover the vent, let passengers sit over the vent, stack boxes over the vent, look at the vent, think about the vent, or create new threads about the vent.
