I Just had the hood on my 05 prius replaced last week . It got wrinkled when I was pushed into an Yukon a couple of weeks ago. Before the accident I was in the habit of letting the hood drop from about foot up when closing it, seemed to latch every time.
After I got the car back from the shop It took a good slam from a couple of feet up to latch it. Not good so back in it went. I took it back in yesterday and they got it so a good slam from a few inches up does the trick but not the casual drop of before the accident.
So how hard is it to get the hood on the average Prius to latch? Mine never seemed too very easy and does seems ok now, but I'm not sure if I'm glossing over a problem to avoid repeated trips to shop or not.

I couldn't push shut or drop the hood shut from a low height on my '06 when I was at the dealer... had to drop it from a good distance.

Both my 04 and 05 you just let it drop from a foot or two.
