I haven't seen that mentioned and it's not in the manual (did it always blink? learning something new every hour I have conditioned myself to double check what gear I am in before letting up off the brake. Now with the Prius, a glance at the instrument cluster will quickly confirm which gear you are in. The blink is very eye catching. I definitely don't miss the BEEP .

My Car: 2006 Prius Package: #6 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I have got to be doing something simple wrong or it doesnt work... I start the car, cylce thru the ODO from odometer to a to b and back to odometer and turn the car off. Restart the car, hold down the ODO button for 10-15 seconds and while still holding shift into reverse and then press Park. Nothing... Tried again doing the same thing but didnt press park after shifting into reverse, nothing... I dont know, any tips? |

• Power on the car, Cycle ODO/TRIP, stopping on ODO, Power off the car. • Power on, within 6 seconds, hold ODO for at least 10 seconds. • While still holding ODO shift into Reverse and back into Park. • b-on shows on speedometer display, press ODO to cycle to "b-off". Do you see the "b-on" on the speedometer? You can then release and press ODO again to see the "b-off"

See this thread for complete details... it worked for me in my new 06. I think there may be caveats I've read about maybe the doors needing to be closed, and maybe no passenger in the passenger seat... not sure about that. The dealer you bought from should be able to help you out, if it comes to that.

re-enable the beep before you ask 'em to do warranty works. I disabled the beep the 2nd day I got my car.

Speaking of which... my reverse beep and driver seatbelt beep are now disabled... but when I was driving to work yesterday with my backpack on the passenger seat... about half way to work the passenger seatbelt alarm started going crazy. Do the driver and passenger seatbelt alerts need to be dissabled independently? /Jim

Same for me. Try as I might, I can't get my '06 into b-off mode.

When disabling the passenger belt beep, you can just sit on the passenger seat to perform the sequence. You don't actually have to get the car to start(ready), just pressing power twice to get to the odo/trip display would work fine. (better if you are doing this in a closed garage so engine won't kick in at some point.) The driver seat initial beeps is mandated by law I believe which is why it can't be disabled like the reminder beeps. |
