The cars with NAV & the 6 CD changer do use that side of the steering wheel for controls.

(I don't have that model and don't know quite what those buttons do.)

From the top:

8) MAP (NAV screen on MFD)
8) Info (Consumption/Energy screen on MFD)
8) Voice command
8) Phone connect (off-hook)
8) Phone disconnect (hang-up)
8) A/C (on/off/vent/recirc --- each button press cycles through the choices)
8) Front defrost (on/off)
8) Rear defrost (on/off)

My last car had an audio mute button as well, which I really miss. Sure the audio mutes by itself when a call comes in or is placed, but sometimes you just want to momentarily mute it for other reasons. Yeah, I'm just too lazy to adjust the volume knob, OK?

My last car not only auto-muted the stereo during a phone call, but it also automatically reduced the fan to the lowest setting since this causes as much interior noise.

It is something of a disappointment to me that the INFO button isn't available on the non-BC models (navigation system) models.

After a day of driving the Prius, I would like to be able to toggle the Energy and Consumption screens back and forth from the wheel.

for audio mute, hold the "MODE" button for a second and that'll power off the audio.

Subsequently, it's much easier (in my opinion) to just hit the little power button to the radio instead of dealing with the volume controls.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I believe you can change CDs by pressing and holding the "Tune" or "Change Track" up/down arrows
