Saw this on ebay and thought other folks might want to see an actual engine head from the 1.5L.

I'm wondering if this is really a Prius compatible head. Is that the variable valve timing mechanism on the front of the cams?

i'd cast some doubt on the compatibility.

the compression ratio is higher in the prius engine- while DH hasn't been through the Prius Tech class yet himself he recalls discussions with his team leader (the shop's best Prius tech) about the compression ratio being accounted for in the engine head.

and no, you can't see the VVT-i mechanism in that pic. the little nub on the left is what the VVT sprocket bolts on to. it contains the 3 oil ports to the sprocket from the cam that allow it to unlock and change.

both cam's are different between the Echo and the Prius. Apart from the VVTi oil control hub.
