Has anyone elected to treat their Prius with an oil additive such as slick 50 to reduce wear and/or friction? Is this recommended or not?

Those companies have had FTC fines in the past for their claims. If you go straight to the source, DuPont claims that Teflon © should *never* be used in a motor.

A high quality motor oil is all you need.

Consumer Reports and Car Talk have addressed "Slick 50" type products repeatedly. All conclusions are to save your money, do regular oil changes and avoid "snake oil" products.

Take a look inside your typical Schuck's, NAPA or other auto parts store. Aside from the parts they sell to do real maintenance and repair on a vehicle, nearly half of the rest of a typical store's shelf space is filled with vehicle snake oil products and corny accessories. That is where the real profit is in auto parts. Alternators, batteries and starters are pretty low profit compared to steering wheele covers, mudflaps and oil additives.
