HOV stickers on windows?

I just saw a Prius with the large HOV stickers on the rear passenger windows.

They were stuck on the window from the inside using some clear film.

Creative but is it legal?

Not legal (in CA anyway).

By the way, what's the latest on expressways HOV lane usage?
Does California Assembly Bill 2628 still apply only to freeways?

As far as I know that's still correct. I think the differential is that freeways are controlled by the feds and espressways by the state.

I'll admit to being one in your area who currently has the side stickers on the rear windows. They are just Scotch-taped on the inside, though you don't really see the tape.

I know it's not legal to USE in that location, my saving grace is I don't actually ever get to use them in my daily 20-mile each-way commute, as there's only 3/4-mile of carpool lane on my route (and would require me to cross four lanes to get to and then four lanes back a mile later to get off). Hopefully I can't get cited on non-carpool roads for "improper display of DMV stickers" or anything!

I do have my front/rear stickers in the mandatory locations, so if I there is ever a rare moment I'm in the lane, the other carpoolers can see them and won't get mad at me :P :P !
