When I got the last tank of gas, I reset the trip A odometer. The MFD reset right away and both started out at 0 miles. But now the trip odo is reading 131 miles and the MFD (on the info screen) is reading 139 miles. What's up?

That's really odd. I track every tank with ODO B and the MFD and they always agree (the ODO gives me the tenths of a mile).

Have you reset the MFD? I can't recall in which menu, but someplace there's a reset button for when you change your tires. That might help.

When the ComfortTreads were installed, and up to pressure, I did the tires reset thing.

At the last tank fillup, I pushed the reset for the ODO Trip A and Reset on the Info, consumption screen. Both were set at 0 miles. In retrospect, I think this may have been this way since new. It's really messed with my head, only the total mileage seemed correct (I hope?). But perhaps I've missed something. I'm going to watch it closely and see if the differential increases between the dashboard odometer and the MFD.

My question is not about your discrepency, but about the MFD automatically resetting. Is it supposed to do that and/or when does it do that - what are the rules? Thanks!

The MFD miles seems to reset automatically after a tank fill-up. It resets when you start to drive away. I've only filled up a few times and I've only observed this once. The other times I reset the miles manually.

I've had my 08/t#6 since October. Virtually everytime I've filled up, I have reset the MFD. I have logged every tank, fill date, fill price, mileage, and calculated (me) versus computed (MFD). Without fail, they've never matched. I guess-tributed the differences to be idling-vs-moving numbers.

Anywhoo, so yesterday I was absolutely fascinated that my Prius actually took more than 10 gallons--10.239 to be exact--and I watched the tank pips re-light. Apparently, I didn't reset the MFD, but it seems to have reset the total mileage by itself. The MPG number didn't change. Took me all damned day to figure out that the MFD was simply carrying the economy over to the next tank! Only THIS thread has made me feel better. Thanks.
More stream of consciousness stuff: I have been on a waiting list for 08/t#6 version 2.0, and was notified that there's a 'driftwood' if I want it. Well, not fabulated with the color, but the Spousal Unit will be driving it, so whatever I guess. Have to get rid of the student's gas-guzzling Ranger (5-speed, 4 cyl, 27 MPG) and give him the Honda Civic Coupe. Funny, too. He's working as a 3rd year co-op engineering student at Mercedes USA. I'd let him take the Prius but I'm afraid they'd take it apart! Likely they've got some cabbage/beer hybrid under wraps...

Never had even 1km difference if my MFD resets right away. I have noticed sometimes I can go a kilometre or so before it resets but that would result in the opposite to what you experienced.

Since the MFD reading is > than the odo reading it's not the MFD that may have been reset but the odo. Is it possible that someone reset your trip odometer 8 miles after the last fill? Consider the possibility that by toggling between the 3 odometer readings if one holds the odometer button a little longer (not sure how many seconds) it will go to zero. If this is the only time you have noticed a difference (especially this large one = 8 mi) this is what probably happened. Keep an eye on it the next few tanks.

could a passenger have simply reset it when you were out of the car doing something?
i know we are not talking about the MFD, I mean the odometer..
maybe someone else drove the car and reset it?

Does the 06 have the ODO plus Trip A and Trip B like the 08's?
