Does anyone have a recommendation on a holder for the smart key? I feel that it may get scratched if I do not have it in something to protect it.
Thanks

I keep mine in my pocket. The cloth "bag" of the pocket seems to protect it just fine. And it makes it easy to get into the car and start it.

Thank you for your reply!

I also keep mine in my pocket but I also need to carry other stuff in my pocket. So the need for some sort of bag that is not too large. I believe Lexus makes something for this but I am not totally sure.
thanks again

I keep mine on a key chain that's clipped to my beltloop. I have seen some posts looking for the same item. IIRC the Lexus one didn't work.

Bill,

Just had to ask - all those who keep their key in their pocket - anyone forget to remove the key and have it go through the wash cycle?

My key stays in the side pocket of my handbag. If for some reason I am going someplace without my purse I place it in my coat pocket and make sure I return it to the handbag when I return.

Another question - how do you identify your key vs someone else's key? For example, if you go to the gym to exercise, many places have peg boards where you can hang your key while working out. I am just a little concerned that someone might grab the wrong key. I am thinking of putting racing strips on mine.

You can get a fob cover at Remotetotes.com. One of our moderators, tag, recommended this on a previous thread, and said to order the large size. It comes in black and several other colors.

I have to take this smart key related thread and use it to confess to one of the stupidest human tricks i've ever performed.

A couple days ago I went on a 2.5 mile (each way) hike that had a 1200 ft altitude gain. For me, quite a climb. I took a picture of the sign at the top to send to a friend as evidence. Put my keys on the sign to show it was me there. Made the 2.5 mile descent. Realized my keys were not with me. Came to the conclusion that i had to re-climb even tho my legs wouldn't like it. Keys were where i left them. So my 2.5 miles up hill challenge became a 10 mile roundtrip with 2400 ft altitude increase for my morning to not forget.

Kids, please don't try this without adult supervision.

If you find a bag to hold your keys in try to keep them less than 2.5 miles from your body.

<_< Hi Springtime...

NOT TO WORRY... The fob is very durable, there have been posts here where the fob has survived a wash cycle in a pocket without incident. The battery is in a compartment whose cover is secured by four tiny Phillips screws and an "O" ring and is virtually waterproof. I would NOT recommend washing the fob as a habit.

If you see an exact duplicate fob, only way I can think to identify your is to take both near (mine works within ~25-30 feet) your Prius and trigger the "lock" button and see if the parking lights flash. I keep mine on a ring with those little grockery-store, insurance, etc. tags which pretty much makes it unique to me.

I've never washed mine, Springtime, but like Charles says, others have with no deleterious effect. Also, like Charles again, my house and office keys (would that they could be SKS too!) distinguish my fob. Keep your fob with you when you work out!

exhuman, my feet and knees feel for you!

I couldn't beleive it the other day but I did just that Springtime! Forgot to take the darned keys out of my pocket and in fact washed them, and not for a regular cycle. It was a load of work pants and I had the washer on this sanitary sycle it has... It's a front load and I think the sanitary heats the water up extra hot and it goes for almost 2 hours! Well, I was SHOCKED that in fact the remote still works fine... Strong little thing.
