I'm here! I've only had my Prius for a week and am getting 50.1 mpg. I take a lot of short trips.

I've had my Prius here in Huntsville, AL since Jan 2005. Depending on weather, I got anywhere from 48MPG-54MPG. I live in a little hilly area though. I did make a drive from Huntsville all the way down to Enterprise, AL, and averaged 55mpg.

I just got mine Friday, and averaged 49.5 MPG from Tuscaloosa to Selma. Can't wait to see how it does on my daily commute to Montgomery. I know I'm driving slower than normal right now, cause I'm still getting used to the car, and that may be helping the gas milage. Glad to know I'm not the only Prius in Alabama!

Are the dealers in Alabama a pain to deal with?

I'm in Huntsville AL and bought an 03 Prius in Oct. 2005. I'm running 50.2 MPG in the GreenHybrid.com database. As for dealers, I don't cotton to the Huntsville dealer. The other Alabama dealers seem much more interested in my business.

Mine wasn't bad. I just let the salesman know up front that he could have the sale or somebody else could. BTW, I paid less that sticker, but had to negotiate for it. I bought my Prius at Jim Bishop Toyota

I don't know much yet, I'm still on my first tank. The display said I got 46 on the way back from b'ham (I live in hsv), but I was driving 80. Around town over the last 75 miles I've been getting 51.

As for dealers, the one in hsv wanted 3500 over, the one in decatur wanted 2000 over, and the one in bham wanted msrp.

The dealer in Montgomery wanted to sell me the silver new one he had or the white used one...ignored what I was telling him about the color and options I wanted. He just kept insisting how much "better" these colors were. I went home, did the "build your own" thing at the Toyota site and sent that to the dealer by email, asking them to let me know when they might get it in. Didn't hear anything. A few days later, I did another inventory search of the Tuscaloosa dealer, and they had my second color choice in stock, with the options I wanted. (Montgomery had nothing I wanted) Called and talked to a great salesman who actually seemed to know about the car. Went up the next day and bought it. Paid MRSP. Saleman was excellent at showing me the way the car works and all the functions. Still haven't heard anything from the Montgomery dealer....either they can't figure out how to read their email, or they don't care.

Thought I would chime in on this one. I'm in Huntsville and I've been averaging between 48 and 54, depending on how much highway driving I'm doing. I went up to Nashville via US Hwy 231 and got 55.8 going and coming...not that far off what the EPA claims I should be getting. I've been seeing many more Prii on the road these days, I hope all of you are part of the forum. If you see me, I'm driving the 06 Driftwood around town, and also around Bham a lot.

I just posted in another post that Bill Penney Toyota sold me my Prius, exactly how I wanted it for MSRP and I only had to wait 10 days for the car. Hope to see you all out and about on the road!!!
