Extended Warranty Question

I am currently waiting for my first Prius, and I have a question about the Extended Warranty. I know that I can wait before I get the Extended Warranty, however, does the maximum Warranty term go down for each year you wait, or does it stay the same. For example, If I wait two years (or less than 36K) to get the Extended Warranty, does that mean I can only get a 5 year, not a 7?

From what I understand, the warranty makes the total warranty 7/100,000, no matter when you buy. The total risk to Toyota is still the same for the car, warranting it for 7 years, 100,000

The extended warranty period starts from the day you bought the car, when you buy the warranty does not matter. The only caveat is you need to buy the warranty within 3 yrs/36K miles.

One other small point, if you buy your warranty now through PriusChat's offering, you pay $990 (I think that's the current rate). In 3 years/36,000 miles, the price of the warranty will have probably gone up. Time-value of money, and all that. When a Toyota extended warranty was first offered through PC, the price was $980.

I plan to get the Extended Warranty shortly after I get the Prius, unless I can get the dealer to match the PriusChat price or the other one I've found. I mostly asked the question because I was curious.
