I think my 2006 manual says that the MPG and miles shown on the consumption screen is supposed to reset itself when you fill the gas tank, but I've never had that happen. Caveat: I've never re-set my trip B meter - it shows the miles I've driven since I bought the car in April. The odometer is about 65 miles more, because the car had been test-driven a lot before I bought it.

When I first bought my '04 the MFD never reset on a new tank of gas. I liked that because I could see the mileage for an entire trip of several tankfulls. With a computer upgrade during a TSB now the MFD always resets when I fill up. I liked the other way better. To agree with the answers to the first post, resetting the ODO/Trip meters should not effect the MFD in any way.

Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not reset. Go figure.

The 2006 is apparently different in this regard than the pre-2006 (which reset both miles and mpg). David

Where, other than on the MFD screen is another MPG average display? There is only the one that I can find, and that is the one that resets on fill-ups. Most of the time. Between fill-ups, I can touch the reset button on the display and that will indeed clear it. But that is the same one that mostly resets itself without my direct intervention, other than by sticking the gas pump nozzle and pulling the trigger. What am I missing?

MPG displays only in one place, the bottom of the MFD screen. "Mileage" displays both on yer odometer AND on the MFD. What davis is saying is that on the 06, no. of miles driven (mileage) resets itself, but MPG doesn't. Thus, if you never reset your MFD manually, as you clear your odometer miles, your MFD MPG number will become a cumulative average, spread over several tankfuls of gas---even LIFETIME MPG if never reset. If I may confuse you more, please let me know.
