I was just checking eBay for Prius stuff and ran across a relatively new listing for both the parts and repair manual on CD. Looks like they have a good index with a search feature. Best of all it is just $10. I ordered one, check it out.

Let us know what you think of it from the point of view of the average Prius owner.

Anybody notice how the fvckwad peddling that stuff is using MY
flyer graphic, complete with URL, as the pic for that item? All
attempts to contact him have failed, and Ebay totally stonewalls
anyone who *isn't* an Ebay member, so there it remains.
.
Not that the ghost-car picture wasn't swiped from Toyota or someplace
originally, but the assemblage of it with the patent graphic and
the pointer to my site is sorta my work, and I cannot imagine
WHY that seller chose to use that. If anyone goes for this and
finds that the CD contains manuals for 04prius, 05tundra, 05 Scion xB,
03 Rav4-EV, and various other things, that's my collection too.
.
I hate Ebay, in ways I cannot even begin to describe. If anyone
knows who this "synergy916" chump is, let me know.
.

If he's going to pirate the Toyota manual why would he think twice about pirating your graphic?

Not worth losing a minute's sleep over.

Oh, and I think ebay's great...at least the original concept of it. It's certainly evolved into something much less pure at this point and I'm not a fan of that, but I've had only good buying and selling experiences there.

I don't understand why it's legal for Toyota to charge for access to service manuals and parts diagrams.

Other products don't do this. When I needed parts for my GE dishwasher, I just went online to GE's website, got the part number from their parts diagram, and then shopped around for the lowest price, following GE's instructions on how to install it.

I understand that printed manuals have a charge, they cost a lot of money to print. But the electronic ones? Come on, just open up the website like every other product manufacturer.

And Toyota, while you are at it, drop the price of the NAV DVD to something reasonable, say, $20?

I'm not the guy selling the manuals on CD, but I have more complaint with Toyota artificially limiting access than the guy who is doing you a favor on ebay.

Seriously, think about it, go around your house, randomly pick an item, then go to the manufacturer's website for an owner's manual. It's there, and it's free. Now try that with your Prius.

My handheld Garmin Navigation system? Online, free download.
My Prius Nav system? Register and pay.

My Treo 650 bluetooth phone instructions? Online, free download.
My Prius bluetooth phone instructions? Register and pay.

The TPMS I bought for my 2004 Prius? Online, free download.
The TPMS for 2006 Prius? Register and pay.

Nate,

Owners manuals are usually free for download, but service manuals less so.

With that said, if anyone has this for 2006, please PM me!

Because the own the content. That's why. Other content producers are free to do as they wish with their content. So is Toyota.
