I'm the proud new owner of a 2006 Red, package 7. I really like this car, even if my wife doesn't. Anyway, finally went for the first refueling, and the average MPG on the MFD was 39.6. Thanks to reading this forum, I know that that is a pretty good start, instead of a reason for suing Toyota for false advertising. I especially think it's decent considering that shortly afterwords, I discovered that the dealership had sent me out with 30/28 psi. The next tank is already comfortably above 40 MPG. Did I mention how much I like this car.

Good deal!

Why does your wife not like the car?

My wife's thoroughly researched and well considered objection to this vehicle can be summed up in 2 words; "It's ugly"

If you're lucky, that will keep her from driving it and ruining your FE.

Check out this thread for a laugh on that topic.

Enjoy your Prius!

That is pretty close to what my wife said long before I purchased my Prius and showed her one on the road passing by. But I kept pointing out to a Prius to her everytime I would see one on the road. Finally a few months later when we were ready to buy our own Prius her initial "ughh!" transformed to "amazing". For some it just takes a little getting used to before they start liking it.
