Maryland sales tax exemption expires June 30th

This is not new news, but I thought others would like to know. My Prius has been allocated and will be arriving sometime in July. Now my dealer just called me to give me the great

news... 'hey guess what you will now have to pay sales tax'. Here is a link to the Maryland website with the information as well as a clip from the site.

Hybrid Vehicle Tax Exemption Expires June 30, 2004
The excise tax exemption Marylanders have enjoyed for the purchase of hybrid vehicles expires on June 30, 2004. Vehicles not purchased and titled by the expiration date are not eligible for the exemption. The General Assembly did not extend the expiration date for the incentive. Thank you for your interest in purchasing a fuel efficient and clean vehicle.

See if you can get the VIN - they should be able to title it if they have the VIN #.
