It's an ok car after having spent this much time in it. I really enjoyed and really loved my F250 diesel pickup. The car is just ok. I tracked the pickup during the delay in delivery of the prius so I could compare those numbers against the Prius and get a "What would have been" picture. The prius saved me about $4300 in fuel over this first year. I did 8 oil changes at the 5k intervals. I rotated the tires myself at 10k, 20k, and 30k. They are due again now at 40k. I put new air filters in the engine and cabin air at 20k and 40k. That's about it on the year. It was a bit disappointing at 10 months watching the 3/36k warranty expire. I sure hope the car just keeps running many more 10's of thousands of miles. I put up a 1 year page if anyone is interested in the pictures. Time to crack out another 40k over the next year!

Looks like you either live or work in/near Naperville. I fill up at some of the same gas stations as do. This car seems perfectly made for Chicagoland traffic! |

Is anyone else on here running the wheels off their prius on a power-commute? Anyone near 40k a year or more?

Not as powerful as your commute, but certainly putting on more miles than I'm used to!

My Car: 2006 Prius Package: #6 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I put just over 25,000 in my first year, and have never had a car so trouble-free, quiet and comfortable. Its also fun to drive, but in a different way than my other cars. To anybody that asks, "Why did you buy a hybrid?", I answer, "Why would you not?" I have a 45 mile each way commute, mostly all freeway, some times I get over 80 mph, and sometimes, not, but I am always in the high 40's, low 50's mpgwise. Great car, I love it. |

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Bought my prius January 2 2007 and drive 145-150 miles monday thru friday. I'm hoping my car holds up as long and as well as my grand am did. I retired the grand am at 275,000 miles. No major mechanical work was done on the car except one water pump and two timing chains that I installed myself. |

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Do you guys find yourself wishing they put a 17 gallon tank on this car? Seems that I'm stopping for gas a lot, especially in the winter. Even in the warmer months when I get 500+ miles on a tank, I do wish for about 3 more gallons each fill up. Oh well, if they gave me 14 gallons, I'd be asking for 20. |
