We have only filled up twice so far and each time it seems as the car does not want to ingest the fuel.
have to puu the nozzel so for out to even pump any amount of gas and the pump then shuts off right away..
when it does decide to take in the gas it has to go slower than a turtle.
Is this common to the prius...???
thanks

No, only with a bad pump. Some are a lot fussier than others.

Some Prius have a problem taking fuel. I set the pump at the slowest setting and usually that takes care of it. I have time to wash the windshield and back window while the tank is filling.

You bet your key fob it is. And very well documented, to boot! Loads of threads to choose from on the subject.

You beat me to it with your post. I was ready to post a new one addressing this problem. I am sure it has been addressed before. I have filled up 6 or 7 times now but the last 2 were extremely difficult to get fuel into the tank. If I figure my MPG with what I put in the tank it is really getting great but it is not accurate. My last 2 fill ups were at different gas stations. Does the tank being a bladder have anything to do with it?

It has happened to me a few times over the past year. I blame the low pressure in the gas pump and the cold temperature constricting my fuel tank bladder. I don't worry about it too much.

I quess I am a lucky dog! I have never experienced this with my new Prius. Takes Gas just like any other car I have owned, at the fasted pump speed. When it shuts off the first time, it is full.

Also, I would never bet my key fob on anything. You wouldn't gamble with any other family member, would you?

I've never had any problems with fueling. I set the nozzle on the slowest setting, and just let it click off when done. I have had problems with some other cars, but it was always due to a bad pump/nozzle.

I agree. The only fueling problems I experienced was a stretch with either my '83 or '89 Olds, or was it my '75 Pontiac? I really can't recall which one but it sure was a PITA at the time. IMO either find a different pump at the station or find another station.

Me too. I don't know what all the fuss is about. 1 year, 25,000 miles, lots of gas, no problems filling. Twice a week, I put in between 6 and 8 gallons. No big deal. I usually use the fast setting at Costco, and everywhere else, too. Good luck with yours.
