Yes, excellent experience and wonderful price. I got the 7 year, 100000 mile, $0 deductible warranty for $990 (IIRC). It is a genuine Toyota warranty, not some third-party thing. Troy is prompt in returning emails and phone calls (he went on a vacation and got some flack here on PC for not being responsive, but that's not my experience.)

Read some of the thread offering the warranty. Most people rave, spending less than half of what the dealers skin you for.

He is TOG here on PC.

Related Q: I applied for the extended warranty online through Warrantyshack's website Friday last week, haven't received an email back yet. How does this work?? Do they send stuff through the mail?

Troy is usually fast, maybe he was swamped at the end of the month selling Prii! You can always give him a call. He's on the East Coast.

Is your name REALLY Jim Carey?

You have to realize ... Toyota does not offer extended warranties because they are nice guys. They do it to make a profit.

A significant amount of time and research has gone into the analysis of service records, mileage, expenditures, and other statistics. Toyota has determined that if they charge you $xxx for an extended warranty for xxx miles, statistically speaking, they will come out ahead.

Some people like the peace of mind that comes with an extended warranty, and that is fine. YOu should get it if that is what you are looking for.

If you want something that is cost effective, then you should ALWAYS avoid the optional extended warranty.

Statistically speaking, of course.

I agree with Bill about Troy. I have the same warranty and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Troy. He is a nice person and takes care of business promptly. I also bought peace of mind for $990. The dlr. wanted around $1500/ $50 ded. per incident. Buy it if you want the extended.

yeah i too purchased the warranty from troy. i called toyota and found out that troy activated it
a lot faster then my own selling dealer. i even got his warranty paperwork a lot quicker then
the maintaince coupons from toyota that i got from my selling dealer.

troy wanted 980 (or was it 970.00) for 100,000k / 7 years $0 deductible and my selling
dealer wanted $1999 (or 1650.00) for the $50 deductible., i have no idea how long
the warranty period was from piercy toyota, i was too busy screaming at them
it was so bad i almost walked out with no prius

Thanks Bill! Will give him a call. The dealer offered it to me for 1095, which is only 100 bucks more than Warrantyshack, but still that equals a lot of take out for someone who seldom cooks

Another way to look at it: $100 is about 1500 miles of driving.

($100 ÷ $3/gallon = 33.333 gallons x 45 MPG = 1500 miles)

Road Trip!
