I am thinking of using the existing hole for the AM/FM radio and replacing the current receive antenna mount with a NMO mount for a dual band ham antenna. I will probably relocate the AM/FM antenna to the right front part of the Prius. I tried a lip mount arrangement on the right front side of the hatchback but still got water intrusion despite the use of a RG-174 feeder coax through the weatherseal. Rick #4 2006 |

The instructions are great. I don't intend to remove the headliner in the near future, but who knows. It's worth bookmarking. Dave M.

The trickiest parts to remove were the four grab handles above the doors. The cover over the clip is extremely tight and require quite a bit of force to pry out. Everything else was pretty easy after that, though I wouldn't describe it as straightforward. I didn't want to disconnect all the wirings that were taped onto the headliner so I left the headliner inside the car as I worked. Turned out not to be too bad. Just took a bit more time to move around, that's all. Putting the headliner back was not terribly difficult, once I figured out to first plug in the visor clips to hold the front end up. It probably would have been much easier if I had removed the various pillar covers first, but I was too lazy to do that. Here are some pics: [attachmentid=10934] [attachmentid=10935]

So how does it sound now? Was it worth the expence and work? I plan to do the doors, but wondered what I should cover with sound dampening material after the doors. Any suggestions? Thanks, Lee

After the doors, my suggestion is to do the floor. You'll have to take out all the seats and center console if you want to do a thorough job. A good day's worth of work, in my experience. Was it worth the expense? I got my SD from Secondskin, so it wasn't too expensive. I wouldn't have been able to do as thorough a cover (80 sf so far) had I used Dynamat. Was it worth the work? To me, absolutely. Just make sure you have lots of cold beer in the fridge while you're at it...
