speculation is for the '09MY which would come out in late '08. Depending upon what they decide to do with a Plug-in version it could either delay the release of the Prius if the Plug-in is the only version available or they may have a non-plug in version available in '08 then a Plug-in version in '09 or '10.

All speculation at this point.

Remember, nobody here knows, because we don't work for Toyota.

And if someone did know, they would not be able to say anything.

Why does everyone keep asking this same question or some variant of it?

Because we want to trade up to a plug-in.

That's nice, but nobody here has the information. Asking will just get lots of speculation. You can't buy that.

On the news here in Michigan they said the 2012 Prius will be the 100mpg and able to plug into your home and run electricity in your home for up to 4 hours. quote name='jenayroux' date='Apr 30 2007, 09:50 PM' post='432956']

Because we all want a new Prius and we hope it will be a plug in! (hoping for 100MPG!)

I get the feeling that Toyota already has most of the technology sorted out already and that it is a matter of selling as many current vehicles as possible and streamlining the process for the new ones.

Why else would all these rumors float? There were rumors already for an 08 vehicle but it has not showed up in any of the Auto shows here or abroad.

I guess Toyota could choose to earn $ from the current car and recuperate R&D costs or be aggressive as there are bound to be more manufacturers making hybrid vehicles. Some like Mitsubishi are already rumored to pursue Lithium-Ion Battery technology already.

For the chap here who seems to be bothered with this thread, I ask why bother to bump it up by posting in it?
