Heh, not me.

Yesterday took delivery of my 2007 Prius
Package 6, magnetic gray, non-touring, obviously all the bells and whistles

$24,847
+ 165 doc fee
-----------------
$25,012

State tax, title, registration, etc. totaled $1,357.35

Total: $26,369.35

Seeing what others have paid for their Prius, I did very well. But then again, there is a package discount from Toyota now and Boston may have better bargains than other parts of the US.

In Mass. cash means cash. Any cash transaction over 10,000.00 causes all kinds of paperwork due to the Patriot Act now. They take terrorism very seriously around here and dealing in cash (not check) draws lots of attention.[/b]
This began years ago to combat drug lords. There are no more drug lords anywhere, right?

I suppose terrorists are too stupid to use a checking account. That's good to know. I suppose this makes Bostonians comfortable...

When I bought my 05, they were selling for MSRP. I had a trade-in so instead of fighting for money off the prius, I paid MSRP and got more money for the trade. I go into all big purchases knowing that I do NOT have buy a car to survive, but the dealer HAS to sell cars to survive. I picked my numbers (trade-in and what I would pay, out-the door cost) and fought for it. I was ready walk out over $40 and I think I surprised the salesman b/c we are a young couple (late 20s) and he thought he would take advantage of us. I did get taken advantage of with my first new car purchase, but I learned from it and applied aspects of that "education" to my Prius purchase.

Based on TNT's comments- you should come to Durham, NC- dealer has 97 on the lot either immediately available or by the 24th...

got mine in the begining of feb for 26500 out the door. I traded in an 02 neon which I got minmal trade but that was ok..

you just got to know how to talk to the salesman and you got to realize that they have to make money too. If you shoot for invoice, the dealership is still making a good profit or else they would go bankrupt. After saying that, there "invoice" is always about a grand above what they really pay for the car..

also there are dealer "hold backs" and incentive programs that are given directly from the manufacturer so they are doing fine..

DO your homework... make sure they have one right on there lot. If it is on the lot then the dealership has to sell it. The longer it is .. the more flexablitiy you will have with price..
